Process service needs to be completed by someone who is not involved in the case at hand. A process server will deliver the documents to be served to the person directly, or via sub-service to another person in the household, where permitted by law. Once the papers are served, the process server fills out and has notarized an Affidavit of Service form for the serving party to file with the court as proof that the other party received the documents.
